Privacy

Written in plain English, because a privacy policy you can't read isn't much of a promise. This covers my apps and this website.

The short version

  • No ads in any of my apps.
  • No ad networks, no advertising SDKs, no data brokers.
  • No accounts, no logins, no passwords. None of my apps ask who you are.
  • I've never sold anyone's data and never will.
  • One analytics tool, TelemetryDeck, built so that I can't identify anybody.

What I actually measure

10 of my 11 apps use TelemetryDeck to count how the app gets used. It tells me things like which mini-games people open, and which version of iOS is still worth supporting. Without something like it I'm guessing, and I'd rather put my time into the parts people actually use.

Here's the part that matters. TelemetryDeck is built so the data can't be traced back to a person. The identifier is salted and hashed on your device before anything is sent, then salted and hashed again on their server. I can't reverse that, and I can't pick you or your child out of it.

So what I see is a count: how many people opened the counting game this week, roughly which devices are in use. What I don't see is who you are, where you are, what else is on your phone, or anything your child did.

About Vet Island. I haven't updated it since 2016, which is well before I started using any of this, so there's no analytics in it at all. It's also the one app whose App Store page shows no privacy label, because Apple didn't require them back then.

Kids

These are apps for children, so I built them with nothing for a child to give away. There's no box to type a name into, no way to sign in, no chat, no photos, no microphone, no contacts, no location. Nothing in any of them opens a web browser.

The usage data above carries no personal information, so there's no profile of your child sitting anywhere. There's nothing for you to request, correct, or ask me to delete, because there's nothing there to hold.

Money

Paid apps, and the optional purchases inside Color Dots and Vet Island, all go through Apple. Your card details go to Apple and I never see them. Refunds are Apple's too, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

This website

I use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't set cookies, doesn't fingerprint your browser, doesn't follow you to other sites, and doesn't build a profile. That's why there's no cookie banner here. There are no cookies to agree to.

The App Store links on this site carry a tag that tells me which page sent someone to Apple. It identifies the page, not you.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps normal server logs including IP addresses, the same as any web host.

Email

If you email me, I keep the email so I can write back. I don't add anyone to a mailing list, because I don't have one.

If this changes

I'll update this page. There's no archive to dig through and no notification to sign up for. What's on this page is always the current version.
